Admission Calendar for Cyprus: Exams, Intakes and Visa Deadlines

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Cyprus has no single application deadline. Public universities follow a fixed national calendar, while private universities take students twice a year and set their own dates. Dates for the 2027 intake were not yet published at the time of writing, so the 2026 dates below show the pattern, not a promise.

Public universities: the national calendar

Places at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) are allocated after the Pancyprian Examinations. In 2026 the Ministry of Education timetable put the exams between 8 and 27 June. Candidates apply online beforehand, in early March in 2026, and receive their placement in July. These exams are for students of Cypriot schools. See how to get into a university in Cyprus.

Applicants with foreign certificates use a separate call. For 2026/27 the University of Cyprus accepted applications from 2 to 30 April 2026. CUT does not give dates for foreign applicants on its page, so contact its admissions office. Check each university's announcements in spring for the next call.

Private universities: two intakes

European University Cyprus (EUC) states two intakes:

IntakeStartApply byNon-EU student visa deadline
FallOctoberearly September31 August
SpringFebruarymid-January15 January

EUC recommends applying early, and says applicants with unofficial transcripts can get an initial review and a conditional offer if they meet the minimum requirements. Other private universities may use other dates, so check the one you want. Medicine and dentistry have their own application route. EUC's medicine page gives no deadline, so ask the Nicosia admissions office.

Working backwards for non-EU students

If you need an entry permit, plan from the start date of your semester:

Where to confirm dates

The Ministry of Education publishes the exam timetable and application announcements each spring on the Pancyprian Examinations website, and each university posts its own calls under its admissions pages. For private universities, ask the admissions office for the intake dates in writing, together with the date by which you must accept an offer and pay a deposit. Dates can change between years, and a deadline that applied in 2026 may not apply in 2027.

Housing and money dates

EUC says the peak period for viewing and securing housing is June to September, and advises applying for university residences as soon as you are accepted. Other universities have their own application windows. See student housing in Cyprus. Scholarship discounts are tied to enrolment, so check the rules in scholarships and student jobs in Cyprus.

A sample year for a foreign applicant

  1. Autumn, a year before: choose programmes in the CYQAA register and check language requirements.
  2. Winter: take an English test if you need one, and leave time for the results to arrive.
  3. Spring: apply. If you want a public university with a foreign certificate, watch for the April call.
  4. Early summer: receive offers. Pay the deposit that your institution requires.
  5. Summer: prepare the visa file and book housing.
  6. Late summer: collect the entry permit and travel.
