Bachelor's Degrees in English in Cyprus: Where, Fees, English Tests
Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
Cyprus is one of the easier places in Europe to study in English, but only if you choose the right kind of institution. English-taught degrees are concentrated in the private sector. The two public universities teach their bachelor's programmes mostly or entirely in Greek.
How many programmes
Our catalogue lists 163 English-taught programmes out of 251 bachelor's and long first-cycle programmes at 37 institutions. Many of the rest are taught in Greek. Language is recorded as published by each institution. Where a programme is taught in both languages, check which version you are applying to.
The Cyprus University of Technology states that all its bachelor's programmes are taught in Greek, and the University of Cyprus teaches most of its programmes in Greek too. If you are looking for English, start with the private universities.
Some programmes are listed with two teaching languages. The catalogue shows the University of Limassol's law degree, for example, as one programme taught in both Greek and English with one fee.
Intakes
English-taught programmes at private institutions usually admit in autumn and spring. EUC, for example, has an October intake and a February intake. See admission calendar for Cyprus.
What they cost
English-taught programmes in the catalogue cost between €4,200 and €24,000 a year for non-EU students, with a typical figure of €9,950. The low end is at colleges, and the high end is at medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. See cost of studying in Cyprus for examples and extra fees.
What you can study
UNIC, for example, lists programmes in business, law, computing, engineering, psychology, design, communication and health sciences. Two of them, European University Cyprus (EUC) and the University of Nicosia (UNIC), also teach medicine in English as a six-year programme, and EUC teaches dentistry and veterinary medicine. UNIC lists veterinary medicine as well. These programmes have stricter admission rules than the rest; see IB and A-level admission to Cyprus.
English proof
Most private universities ask non-native speakers for proof of English. The two largest publish different thresholds, so check your own programme.
| Test | EUC | UNIC |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.5 | 6 |
| TOEFL iBT | 79 | 72 |
| Pearson PTE Academic | 66 | not listed |

Other points:
- EUC accepts a secondary or bachelor's certificate from an English-medium institution, or a CEFR B2 or higher qualification. It exempts British, Canadian, Australian, US and New Zealand nationals.
- At EUC, applicants without proof take an online placement test, but non-EU applicants who need a student visa cannot use it and must submit official proof.
- UNIC says applicants with IELTS 4.5 or equivalent and no other listed proof take an English placement test and may receive support classes.
- Medicine has its own English rules. UNIC asks for IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing for its six-year MD.
For test details, see IELTS and TOEFL for European universities.
