Cost of Studying in Cyprus: Tuition, Extra Fees and Visa Deposits

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Costs in Cyprus depend almost entirely on whether you attend a public or a private institution, and on whether you are an EU citizen. The currency is the euro. All figures below are for 2026/27 unless stated.

Public universities

The University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) both publish the same figures. Cypriot and EU students pay no tuition for a bachelor's degree: the fee is €3,417 a year and the Republic of Cyprus pays it for them. Students from outside the EU pay €6,834 a year.

In our catalogue the typical public fee is €0 for EU students and €6,834 for non-EU students. Remember that places for foreign applicants are limited, and most public programmes are taught in Greek. See how to get into a university in Cyprus.

Private universities and colleges

Private institutions set their own fees. In the catalogue, a bachelor's programme at a private institution costs between €4,200 and €24,000 a year, with a typical figure of €9,600. The same range applies to non-EU students, because most private institutions charge one fee for everyone. The lowest amounts are at smaller colleges. The top of the range is for medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine.

Programmes that publish a price only on request, or that give no figure, are shown without one. Always confirm the fee for your own programme and intake, and check whether it is quoted per year, per semester or per ECTS credit.

Examples from one university

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) charges per ECTS credit. In its 2026/27 list for non-EU students:

ProgrammePer ECTSPer year (60 ECTS)
Business Administration€172€10,320
Law€195€11,700
Computer Science€180€10,800
Architecture€197€11,820
Medicine (MD)n/a€24,000
Veterinary Medicinen/a€21,000

Medicine is a six-year programme, so its total cost is a multiple of the yearly figure. Check the number of years in the programme page.

Fees on top of tuition

Tuition is not the whole bill. UNIC's list shows the kind of extras to expect:

Other institutions have their own list. Read the fee page of your institution before you compare totals.

Money you must show for the visa

Non-EU students need to prove they can pay. The rules come from the institution and the Migration Department, and they differ:

See student visa for Cyprus for the full document list.

Living costs

EUC tells applicants to expect monthly rent of €600 to €1,000, depending on the type of accommodation. University halls are cheaper: see student housing in Cyprus for rents at three universities.

Reducing the bill

Several private universities discount tuition for merit, sport and family circumstances. Details and limits are in scholarships and student jobs in Cyprus.
