Studying Nursing in Andorra: 35 Places, Selection and Recognition Abroad

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Nursing is the one degree at the Universitat d'Andorra (UdA) with a stated limit on places and its own selection tests. It is a state degree issued by the Government of Andorra, and the university highlights that it is recognised directly in France. This guide covers how selection works, what the course involves and what the recognition means if you plan to work abroad.

The degree in brief

The Bachelor's in Nursing (Bàtxelor en Infermeria) runs for 180 ECTS credits over six semesters, which is three full-time academic years at 30 credits per semester. According to the programme page:

At the UdA's published price for 2026/27, a 60-credit year costs €1,686, the same for every nationality. See the cost of studying in Andorra.

Selection: 35 places

The programme offers 35 new places each academic year. If applications exceed the places, the university assigns them using criteria it reviews every year. For 2026/27 these are:

The page gives no application deadlines or test dates. For dates, use the pre-registration page and, if in doubt, contact the university. The academic route to the degree is the same as for other programmes: the Andorran baccalaureate, the Advanced Professional Diploma, the over-25 access test or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government. If your diploma is foreign, you need the access certificate first. See document recognition for Andorra.

Preparing for the tests

The UdA offers optional preparatory courses, including an introduction to human anatomy and physiology, an introduction to biostatistics and an introduction to biochemistry. It also offers complementary French courses to students who lack the recommended B1 French level. For the language side, see Catalan, English and French at the University of Andorra.

Placements, including three abroad

Clinical placements take place at partner hospitals, social-health centres and primary care centres in Andorra and abroad. Every student does at least three clinical placements outside Andorra. The UdA offers financial aid for mandatory placements abroad, though the amounts and conditions are on separate pages of its site.

Language of teaching

Teaching is mainly in Catalan. The programme includes five ECTS credits taught in English, and some modules are taught partly or wholly in English.

Recognition and what comes next

The programme page states that:

The UdA's FAQ adds that for the nursing profession in Spain the title must be homologated. This is an individual procedure that each graduate completes with the Spanish ministry responsible for higher education through the Spanish embassy in Andorra. For other countries the FAQ says that regulated professions such as nursing require you to meet the professional recognition rules of the country where you want to work. Check those rules with the nursing authority there before you rely on the degree for a job.
