Are Andorran Degrees Recognised Abroad? Diploma Supplement and Professions

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Andorra is not in the EU, so many applicants ask whether a degree from the Universitat d'Andorra (UdA) counts elsewhere. The answer has two layers. For further study, the degree sits inside the European Higher Education Area. For regulated professions such as nursing, teaching and law, each country applies its own rules on top of that. This guide separates the two, using what the UdA and the Andorran authorities state.

Andorra in the European Higher Education Area

The UdA says Andorra has been part of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) since 2010. All of its regulated degrees follow the EHEA framework and, the university says, are recognised in the 48 states that make up the area. The framework rests on three levels and on the rule that 60 European credits equal a full-time year of workload:

The UdA states that its bachelor's degrees give access to master's studies in the countries of the EHEA. It adds that this makes it easier to follow exchange programmes abroad and to have the title recognised academically in order to continue studies in another country.

The state title and the diploma supplement

Students on regulated programmes receive a state title. This is a document issued by the Andorran ministry responsible for higher education, certifying that you completed a study plan approved by the government. State titles are delivered in the autumn after you finish. Before then you apply for the title at the Government's procedures service, Servei de Tràmits, and pay the public price. If you need proof earlier, you can collect a certificate of issuance from the ministry, or ask the UdA for an academic certificate or transcript.

Every Andorran state university diploma comes with the European Diploma Supplement, an academic record that is recognised in Europe. The UdA issues it in Catalan and English. When another university or an employer abroad asks for proof of your studies, this is the document to send together with the title and any legalisation the destination asks for. See apostille and legalisation of documents.

Regulated professions

The UdA's FAQ says that for certain professions, such as law, teaching and nursing, you must meet the professional recognition rules of the country where you want to practise. Its examples are:

Before you enrol, ask the professional body in the country where you want to work what it requires. The UdA states the principle but not the current rules of other countries.

Quality assurance

The nursing page states that the programme is accredited by AQUA, the Andorran higher education quality agency. The pages we read do not give an accreditation statement for the other bachelor's programmes, so ask the university if you need one for an employer or a foreign university.

Other qualifications you may hold

If you also use the over-25 access test, note that it does not count as an academic qualification. The UdA says it entitles you to enter higher education in Andorra and to apply for Andorran public-sector jobs that require the baccalaureate, within six years of the date on the certificate.
