How to Get Into the University of Andorra: Access, NIA and Pre-Registration
Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
The Universitat d'Andorra (UdA) in Sant Julià de Lòria is the country's public university, and in our catalogue it offers 5 on-campus bachelor's programmes. You pre-register with the university directly, but if your diploma comes from outside Andorra you must first obtain permission to enter higher education from the Andorran government. That extra step is the one to start early.
Who can enrol
For a bachelor's (first-cycle) degree the UdA accepts applicants who hold one of these:
- the Andorran baccalaureate (Batxillerat)
- the Advanced Professional Diploma (DPA)
- a pass in the access test for people over 25
- an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government of Andorra
If your school diploma comes from another education system, you cannot be admitted on the strength of the diploma alone. The Ministry responsible for higher education must first confirm that it gives you access. The details are in document recognition for Andorra.
No cut-off marks, with exceptions
According to the university, admission is not regulated by systematic cut-off marks. Some degrees may use them if demand exceeds the number of places. In our catalogue only nursing has a stated limit, at 35 places a year. For 2026/27 the university ranks nursing applicants by three components: 50% from the grade of the Andorran baccalaureate exam or its equivalent, 25% from a UdA human anatomy and physiology test, and 25% from a UdA French test. The steps for applicants from abroad
The UdA publishes a sequence for people who do not live in Andorra:
- Choose your degree and check the fee for your study plan. See the cost of studying in Andorra.
- Request an NIA, an administrative identification number, from the Government's Servei de Tràmits. The university calls it indispensable before you can ask for access, and says it can take up to 48 hours.
- Request the certificate of access to higher education based on your foreign qualification from the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Fill in the international student registration form and pre-register online on the UdA website, once the Ministry has approved your access.
- Check the entry documents you need for Andorra. See the student visa guide.
- Complete your enrolment in Andorra. You can only enrol once access has been granted.
- Find housing and apply for the student residence permit.
The university notes that some of these procedures may need to be done in person or through a local administrative agent (gestoria).
Pre-registration and enrolment dates
Pre-registration is free and does not commit you to enrolling. For a September start, the UdA says it runs from mid-March to late June or late August, depending on the programme. For a February start it runs from November to late January. The exact dates for each programme are published in an image titled "Dates clau per a nou estudiantat" on the pre-registration page, not as text, so open that page for the current year. If a deadline has passed, the university asks you to contact it by phone or email.
After you pre-register, the university contacts you to request the documents for enrolment. These are certified photocopies, which the UdA can certify itself:
- proof of access to higher education
- your passport or identity document
- one passport-size photograph
- a large-family, single-parent or disability card, if you want the discount that applies
- the prior studies assessment form, if you want earlier studies recognised
Who studies there
The UdA says international students, mostly from neighbouring territories, make up roughly 30% of its students. Teaching is mainly in Catalan, and the university says students who want a regulated degree must know the language. See Catalan and other language requirements.
