How to Get Into a University in Monaco: IUM, Pavillon Bosio, IFSI

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
Monaco has no state university and no national application portal. The national ENIC centre says so itself: the main institution is a private business university, and the rest are French national diplomas taught in Monaco. Our catalogue lists 3 full-time programmes at 3 institutions, all in the city of Monaco, and only 1 of them is taught in English. Each institution has its own way in, so this guide takes them one by one.
International University of Monaco (IUM)
IUM is private. The government of the Principality authorises it to award degrees, and the BBA in our catalogue is taught in English. According to IUM, you apply online and upload:
- an ID document;
- transcripts for your last two years of secondary school;
- your diploma, if you have already graduated;
- a photo and a motivation letter;
- proof of English, such as TOEFL, IELTS or a Cambridge certificate, unless you are a native speaker or studied in English. The page gives no minimum score, so ask admissions which result they expect.
There is an online motivational interview and, if needed, an English interview, and an admission jury decides. IUM says you should hear back within two weeks. It has two intakes, September and January. The page we read gives no application deadline, so ask the admissions office. See what it costs.
Pavillon Bosio: art school, French-language
The École supérieure d'arts plastiques de la Ville de Monaco admits by competitive exam (concours), taught in French. For the 2027 session the school's dates are:
- file due by 17 March 2027;
- exam papers downloaded from 19 March, answers and portfolio due by 6 April;
- admissibility results by email on 19 April, then video interviews on 29 and 30 April.
You must hold the baccalaureate (final-year pupils are admitted subject to passing it) or have started university studies, and be under 24 on the date of the exam, with exceptions by request before registration. The portfolio holds at most 12 projects. A mark below 6/20 in any test eliminates you. The registration fee is €37. Candidates who are not French speakers need a valid B2 certificate in French (TCF, DELF or DALF), and there is an English test in the exam. The school also admits students directly into the second year through a separate equivalence commission, subject to available places, with its own dates and a French test for non-French speakers.
IFSI: nursing school
The Institut de Formation en Soins Infirmiers belongs to the Princess Grace Hospital Centre and trains nurses in partnership with the University of Nice. It takes 30 students per intake. Bachelor-level applicants apply through Parcoursup, the French platform, and a separate quota exists for continuing-training candidates. The school's page does not state nationality or language requirements, so contact the school (ifsimc@chpg.mc) before applying. The diploma is French, a Diplôme d'État.
What to expect honestly
With 3 programmes, Monaco is a very narrow choice. IUM is a business school; the other two are an arts and a nursing course, both in French. If you want another subject, you will have to look at universities in France. Many students who study in Monaco live across the border and commute by train. See student housing around Monaco.
