How to Get Into the University of Liechtenstein: Steps and Deadlines

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

The University of Liechtenstein in Vaduz is the only institution in the country with bachelor's programmes. In our catalogue it has 2: Architecture and Business Administration, both of six semesters and 180 ECTS credits and both taught in German. You apply directly through the university's online tool, and the university reviews your documents and issues an offer.

Entry requirements

For both bachelor's programmes the university requires a general university entrance qualification, such as the Matura or Abitur, or an equivalent international qualification. You can apply before you have the final certificate: the university says registration is possible even before you receive it, and Business Administration applicants can apply with their current transcript.

Language requirements differ by programme. Business Administration asks for proof of German at level C1 if your native language is not German or you do not hold a German-taught secondary diploma, and English at B2. The Architecture page does not state a German level, and says only that the programme is taught in German. Ask the Student Advisory Service which level and which certificate it expects. See German language requirements at the University of Liechtenstein. The university points to its Student Regulations for the full admission requirements, which we have not reproduced here.

Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the deadline and offers may be issued at any time. For the bachelor's programmes the university gives these deadlines:

The dates for visa nationals are earlier than those for EU, EEA and Swiss nationals: four months earlier for the winter semester and two months earlier for the summer semester. See the student visa guide. The university asks you to initiate payment of the processing fee no later than the deadline.

The application, step by step

The university sets out a ten-step process. The main points:

  1. Check the admission requirements and the programme content.
  2. Check the deadlines for your nationality and semester.
  3. Fees. Anyone who has not studied at the university before pays a non-refundable administration fee of CHF 100, to be initiated by the application deadline. Tuition is paid once you receive an offer. See the cost of studying in Liechtenstein.
  4. Housing and residence. See student housing in Liechtenstein.
  5. Prepare your documents, in PDF or JPG. See documents for applying.
  6. Apply online. You create an account with a personal email address, which the university uses as its main contact. You can pause and resume, but a submitted application cannot be changed.
  7. Review. Your application is processed only after the processing fee has been received. The university emails you if it has questions.
  8. Decision and invoice. If the documents are complete, the requirements are met and the programme director has approved your application, you receive a provisional offer with your first semester invoice. Paying the tuition confirms your place. If you miss the payment deadline, the offer expires and you lose the place. If you have not yet met all requirements but are likely to before the start, you also receive a provisional offer and an invoice.
  9. Starting information. Admitted applicants receive details about the start, housing and arrival through a welcome programme.
  10. Certified copies. By the first week of lectures you must hand in certified copies of your certificate, diploma and other documents. Never send originals.

Authenticity checks

The university reserves the right to check the authenticity of submitted documents with the issuing institution, and may reject or send for review incomplete or poor translations.
