How Much Does It Cost to Study in Kosovo? Tuition and Living Costs

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
Kosovo has two price levels. Public universities charge no tuition to regular bachelor's students on first registration of a semester. Private colleges set their own fees, and they are much higher. Our catalogue prices are in euros, the currency used in Kosovo.
Public universities
Under Administrative Instruction MASHTI No. 09/2021 on student fees in public higher education institutions, regular bachelor's students are exempt from the semester tuition fee when they register a semester for the first time. Repeating a semester costs €25. The University of Gjakova publishes a short list of small administrative fees on the same basis: €2.50 for a grade certificate, €5 for a diploma, €25 for changing your study programme or for a duplicate diploma.
Our catalogue therefore shows a typical annual tuition of €0 for public universities, the same for EU and non-EU students. The instruction does not distinguish students by citizenship, and the University of Gjakova says candidates from abroad compete on the same conditions. We found no separate fee schedule for foreign students, but each university can publish its own terms, so ask the admissions office before you apply.
Private colleges
Private colleges charge tuition. In our catalogue, annual fees at private institutions run from €1,335 to €7,140, with a typical figure of €1,950. The same figures apply to EU and non-EU students. Two details to know:
- AAB College publishes a tuition list per programme and semester (PDF of December 2025). The catalogue doubles the semester amount to get a yearly figure.
- Several colleges, including UBT, state that the fee is approved by their board and announced in the call, so our catalogue has no price for them. Ask the college.
RIT Kosovo
RIT Kosovo (A.U.K.) teaches in English and is the most expensive option in our catalogue. Its Finance Office lists three annual totals, which include tuition, a student activities fee of €40 and a technology fee of €300:
| Application timing | Total per year |
|---|---|
| Early | €6,840 |
| Regular | €6,940 |
| Late | €7,140 |
After an acceptance letter, a non-refundable €500 reservation fee is due, and it is deducted from the first instalment. RIT offers instalment plans, and a 10% tuition discount for families with two or more full-time undergraduates in the same semester. The page does not state the academic year, so confirm it with the Finance Office. See bachelor's degrees in English in Kosovo.
Living costs
We found no official figure for monthly living costs in Kosovo, so we give none. The costs you can check yourself:
- Dormitories: the University of Prishtina listed €165 a month for international students in 2025, for a single room and two meals. RIT Kosovo's hostel was €110 a month. See student housing in Kosovo.
- Private rent: it depends on city and flat. Ask the university's international office for current examples.
- Residence permit: you need health insurance and proof of means of subsistence. See student visa for Kosovo and health insurance for students in Europe.
