Student Housing in Kosovo: Dormitories, RIT Hostel and Private Rent

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Housing in Kosovo is less documented online than in most European countries. Our catalogue has no dormitory figures for Kosovo, and universities publish little in English. This guide gives what we could confirm and tells you what to ask.

University of Prishtina dormitories

The University of Prishtina runs its dormitories through the Student Centre. In a presentation given on 17 May 2025 in Chania, Greece, the university said it has 7 dormitories with 3,600 beds, located in the city centre. It gave a price of €165 a month for international students, covering a single room and two meals in the Student Centre's canteen.

Treat this as a guide, not a quote. The Student Centre's own website was not available to us, so we could not check the price, the eligibility rules or the application dates. They may be different for Kosovo students and for international students, and places are limited. As soon as you are admitted, write to the university's international relations office and the Student Centre and ask:

Other public universities, such as Prizren, Peja, Gjakova, Gjilan and Mitrovica, may offer their own arrangements. We found no confirmed information, so ask them directly.

RIT Kosovo hostel

RIT Kosovo, an English-taught private university in Prishtina, has a small hostel of 8 apartments, each with beds for two or three students and a shared kitchen and bathroom. Its housing page gives:

The page says the apartments are for female students, and that selection depends on how far from Prishtina a student's home town is, with priority for students new to living in Kosovo. The page is undated, so confirm the price with RIT before you rely on it.

Private rent

Outside the dormitories, students rent a room or flat privately. We found no official rent statistics, so we do not quote any. Ask the university's international office for current ranges by city and for landlords they know. Our catalogue lists programmes in seven cities: Prishtina, Prizren, Peja, Mitrovica, Ferizaj, Gjilan and Gjakova. See all programmes in Kosovo.

The address you must prove

Housing is part of your paperwork. For a residence permit for higher education, the Ministry of Internal Affairs asks for proof of accommodation with the exact address of residence. RIT Kosovo tells its study-abroad students to bring proof of residence from their Kosovo landlord. So ask the landlord at the start whether they will sign a written contract and provide the proof you need. See student visa for Kosovo.
