Bachelor's in English in Liechtenstein: What Is Taught in English

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
Liechtenstein has one university with bachelor's programmes, the University of Liechtenstein in Vaduz, and neither of its two bachelor's degrees is taught entirely in English. If you are looking for an English-only bachelor's here, you will not find one. What exists is a German-taught business degree with English-language specialisations. Our catalogue lists 1 programme with English teaching, out of 2 in the country.
The two bachelor's programmes
- BSc Architecture: six semesters, 180 ECTS credits. The university states plainly that the programme is taught in German.
- BSc Business Administration: six semesters, 180 ECTS credits, full-time or part-time, with starts in September and February.
The university's own page for Business Administration is not fully consistent. In one place it says the programme is "taught mainly in German" and that some advanced courses are offered in English. In another it says the three specialisation tracks are "taught almost exclusively in English". The page does not say in which semester the specialisation starts or how many of the 180 credits are taught in English. Ask the Student Advisory Service for the study plan before you decide.
The three English-language specialisations
According to the university, Business Administration offers three specialisations:
- International Financial Services (IFS): financial markets and institutions, corporate finance, innovative finance, risk management and portfolio management, aimed at banks, insurers and asset managers.
- International Management and Entrepreneurship (IME).
- Information Management and Information Technology (IMIT).
Each has a curriculum overview that you can download from the programme page. We have not reproduced module lists, so read the curriculum before choosing.
What English and German you need
For Business Administration the university asks for English at level B2, and for German at level C1 if your native language is not German or your secondary diploma was not taught in German. The admission page for bachelor's programmes lists the German certificates it accepts, such as Goethe-Zertifikat C1, TestDaF, DSH and telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, and says English is required only for Business Administration, at a level equivalent to the Matura. The two pages describe English requirements slightly differently (B2 on the programme page), so ask which certificate the university accepts. See IELTS and TOEFL for European universities and how to get into the University of Liechtenstein.
In practice this means you cannot avoid German: the university describes the programme as taught mainly in German. Plan to reach C1 before you start.
Tuition
The tuition is the same for every programme: CHF 950 per semester for EU/EEA and Swiss nationals, holders of a permanent residence or settlement permit in Liechtenstein, and anyone with a school-leaving certificate from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland; CHF 1,250 for others. In our catalogue that is about €2,008 a year for the lower tier and €2,643 for the higher. See the cost of studying in Liechtenstein.
What about master's programmes?
The university also offers master's and doctoral programmes, which are not in our catalogue. We have not checked which of them are taught in English, so look at the master's pages on the university's website.
