Design entry scores in Norway (2024–2026): cut-off marks by university
We have official entry scores for 5 programmes (scale from 0 to 76, higher is better). In the latest lists the score of the last admitted student ranged from 39.9 to 60. The most selective programme was at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim), the most accessible at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Gjøvik).
Always check current information on the official website of the university before you apply.
The score is the result of the last admitted student, so it changes every year.
How admission works in Norway
Most bachelor's programmes and the integrated five- and six-year programmes (medicine, law, psychology, sivilingeniør engineering, teacher education) at public institutions and several private ones are applied for through Samordna opptak, the national admissions service, with up to 10 ranked choices; arts academies, some private colleges (for example BI and Kristiania) and many English-taught programmes for international applicants take applications directly. You need general university admission certification (generell studiekompetanse; for foreign diplomas the country list of Samordna opptak applies) and proof of Norwegian and English for Norwegian-taught programmes, and some programmes have extra subject requirements. When there are more qualified applicants than places, applicants are ranked by points from their school grades (in the ordinary quota with additional and age points), and the entry score shown is that of the last applicant offered a place in the main round. For the 2026 intake the portal opened on 1 February and the ordinary deadline was 15 April (1 March for the Police University College and early admission); the dates for the autumn 2027 intake are not yet published, and new admission rules are introduced gradually from 2027.
