How admission works in Slovenia

You apply online through the national eVŠ portal in the joint call for enrolment (Razpis za vpis), published each winter by the universities and the Ministry, and you can list up to three study choices in order of preference. University programmes and long single-cycle programmes (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine) require the Slovenian general matura or an equivalent foreign school-leaving certificate, which the institution recognises in a separate procedure; some programmes also hold aptitude tests. If applications exceed the places by 10% or more, entry is restricted and applicants are ranked by points (up to 100) from their matura results and final-year grades. For the 2026/27 intake the first round for Slovenian and EU citizens ran from 18 February to 18 March 2026; the dates for the autumn 2027 intake will be set in the 2027/28 call (not yet published in October 2026), and non-EU citizens apply in separate rounds with each university's own deadlines.
