How admission works in Montenegro

The University of Montenegro, the only public university, takes applications in June through the national platform upisi.edu.me or at each faculty's student office (for 2026/27: 25–26 June 2026); a second call follows in July and further rounds in autumn if places remain. Candidates are ranked by points from secondary-school grades and the external matura (applicants without it sit two tests); Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture, Psychology, Sport and the arts programmes also have entrance exams. Foreign nationals apply on the same terms as citizens, must have their foreign diploma recognised and, unless they finished school in a language official in Montenegro, prove the language of instruction. Private universities and faculties publish their own calls from June to September; the dates for 2027/28 are expected to follow the same pattern. More in the guide Study in Montenegro.
