Scholarships and Erasmus+ Grants at the University of San Marino

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Money help at the University of the Republic of San Marino (UNIRSM) comes mainly in two forms: partial scholarships that waive one tuition instalment, and Erasmus+ grants for a period abroad. Both are small and competitive. This guide sets out what the university publishes for 2026/27 and flags the points the pages leave open, especially for students who are neither Sammarinese nor Italian.

The university scholarships

For 2026/27 UNIRSM says it will award 45 partial-coverage scholarships. Each one waives the third instalment of the annual fee, which is a partial reduction, not a full tuition waiver. See the cost of studying in San Marino for how the instalments work. The scholarships are divided by degree:

The numbers per group are small, and because the awards are split across year groups, they go to enrolled students as well as to new entrants.

How to apply

Applications are made only online, through the student's online desk in the Esse3 system, since 2025/26. You attach a document that shows household income:

The university tells students to request the university ISEE in good time. The call for 2026/27 is to be published on the scholarships page by December 2026. The page does not say which income document a student from another country should supply, or whether students from outside Italy and San Marino can apply on equal terms. Ask the Student Office before you count on a scholarship.

What happened in 2025/26

The university publishes the lists of winners for 2025/26, by degree. By a decision of the University Council on 18 March 2026 the scholarship was also granted to all applicants whose application was valid but who were not winners in the first instance. Winners and these eligible candidates are exempt from the third instalment. The practical lesson is that in 2025/26 a valid application was enough to receive the waiver, but the university does not promise this will repeat.

Other reductions

Students over 65 and students with a disability of 66% or more are exempt from tuition, and a 34% to 65% disability gives 50% off. These are not scholarships and are explained in the cost guide.

Erasmus+ grants

Enrolled UNIRSM students can spend 2 to 12 months at a partner university with Erasmus+. The call is published every year. For 2026/27 the deadline was 26 March 2026. The partner list includes the University of Liechtenstein, the Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart, the University of Akureyri, the Université de Corse, the Slovak University in Bratislava and others.

Every winner receives a grant towards living, travel and housing costs. For 2026/27 the monthly amount is €350 for countries in groups 2 and 3, set by the Erasmus national agency; the page does not show the amount for group 1 countries. A separate contribution for the return journey is paid on proof of costs. Conditions to know:
