Cost of Studying in San Marino: Tuition, Instalments, Late Fees, Refunds

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

The University of the Republic of San Marino (UNIRSM) does not charge different prices to Sammarinese, EU and other students. Each programme has a single annual fee, whatever your passport. In our catalogue the fees run from €2,000 to €2,800 a year, with a typical figure of €2,500.

What each programme costs

For the 2026/27 academic year the university's fee pages and admission notices give these annual amounts:

The 2026/27 notices for Design and for Communication and Digital Media state the instalments: €1,200 at enrolment, €800 due on 31 January 2027 and €800 due on 30 April 2027. The fee pages for the engineering degrees do not state the year, so check them against your own enrolment year.

On top of tuition, the limited-places degrees charge a €50 pre-registration fee, paid online when you apply for the admission test. See how to get into the University of San Marino.

How and when to pay

You can pay each instalment with a printable payment slip, the bollettino freccia, from the student's online desk, or online by credit card. The slip can be paid at any bank and at authorised collection points. Payment by other means, such as a bank transfer, is processed by hand. In that case you must write the invoice number and your details in the payment reference, and the value date of the transfer must be on or before the due date. A transfer made on the due date will probably be treated as late.

Three rules matter:

Late fees

If you pay after the due date, the system adds a late fee automatically: €52 in the first 15 days of delay and €104 after that. A due date that falls on a weekend or holiday moves to the end of the next working day.

Exemptions

The university may waive tuition entirely for students over 65 and for students with a disability of 66% or more, whatever their income or grades. A disability of 34% to 65% gives a 50% reduction. You apply to the rector through the Student Office at enrolment, attach the certificate and repeat the request when the certificate expires or the disability percentage changes. Only a certificate from the AUSL, the health authority for civil invalids, with the percentage counts.

Refunds

Time over the standard length

Students who finish the regular years without graduating are enrolled as "fuori corso" and still pay an annual contribution. A student missing only the final exam who graduates in the first session of the next year pays 50% of the first instalment. Students who expect to graduate in the last session of the year can ask not to pay an instalment for the next year, on conditions set out on the university's fees page. The general rules are in Rector's Decree 059/2025.

Scholarships

For 2026/27 the university offers 45 partial scholarships that waive the third instalment. See scholarships at the University of San Marino.
