Bachelor's Degrees in English in Greece: Programmes, Fees and How to Apply

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

Greek public universities teach almost everything in Greek, but a growing set of bachelor's programmes runs in English for international students. Our catalogue holds 19 of them out of 422 programmes in the country. Unlike the Greek-taught degrees, they charge tuition, from €4,500 to €17,000 a year, typically €7,000, and you apply to the university rather than through the ministry.

What is on offer

The programmes are concentrated in a few universities and fields:

Lengths range from four years to six for Medicine, and several are integrated master's programmes of five years. Study in Greece, the ministry's portal, also lists English-taught degrees, but its count differs from ours, so use the programme pages as the final word. Browse the full list on our Greece pages.

Who can apply

Check eligibility first. Many of these programmes are meant for students from abroad and say so. The medicine programmes in Athens, Larisa and Patras ask for applicants who completed the last two years of secondary school outside Greece. AUEB's International Business and Technology programme accepts foreign citizens with an IB diploma or a leaving certificate from a school abroad who attended their last two years full-time, and also students of foreign schools in Greece if neither they nor their parents hold Greek citizenship.

How applications work

Each programme runs its own process. Examples from the programme pages in October 2026:

ProgrammeRequirementsDeadline
Archaeology, History and Literature of Ancient Greece, AthensIB or school leaving certificate, indicative average of 70%, IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 88 or Cambridge B21 August for 2026/27
Bachelor of Laws, Aristotle Universityleaving certificate, English at B2, online interview, possibly a knowledge testrolling admissions, up to 40 places
Sport and Exercise Sciences, Aristotle Universityleaving certificate, personal statement of 500 to 800 words, IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 79 or Cambridge B2rolling review, first intake
International Business and Technology, AUEBIB or leaving certificate, English at B2ongoing throughout the year

Rolling means decisions are made as applications arrive, so early applications are reviewed first. Where a deadline is a past date, treat it as the pattern for the next year and check the page. Required English scores vary: from IELTS Academic 6.0 and TOEFL iBT 79 at several programmes up to IELTS 7.5 and TOEFL 80 for Medicine in Athens, and some accept Cambridge B2. See IELTS and TOEFL for European universities. Several programmes exempt native speakers and students taught entirely in English.

Fees and deposits

Fees are the same for EU and non-EU students; the full table is in cost of studying in Greece. Expect a deposit once admitted, and read the refund rules for the case that your visa is refused. Some programmes quote the 2027/28 fee already, so make sure you compare the same year.

Housing and the Greek language

AUEB states that Greek universities do not have dormitories available to international students and that students must find housing in Athens before arrival. See student housing in Greece. You do not need Greek to enrol on these programmes, but learning some helps outside the classroom. Non-EU students still need a visa and permit; see student visa for Greece.
