Bachelor's Degrees in English in North Macedonia: Programmes, Fees

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
Most programmes in North Macedonia are taught in Macedonian or Albanian, but a solid group is taught in English. Our catalogue lists 72 programmes taught in English out of 488 first-cycle programmes in the country. Most of them are at private universities in Skopje and Tetovo, with a smaller number at public universities.
Where the programmes are
The catalogue's English-taught programmes concentrate in a few institutions:
- International Balkan University (IBU), Skopje (private) is the largest provider, with business, engineering, architecture, law-related and political science, psychology, education, art and design programmes in English, and an integrated dentistry programme.
- South East European University (SEEU), Tetovo (private) lists programmes in English such as computer science, business analytics, digital design, psychology, nursing and physiotherapy. Several others are taught in Albanian, Macedonian and English.
- University American College Skopje (UACS) (private) offers management, marketing, finance, computer science, economic diplomacy, and a political science programme with a double degree with Università Cattolica in Milan.
- Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM) (public) has English-taught programmes in software engineering, metallurgical digital engineering, clothing design, political studies, and the health programmes listed below.
- University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle", Ohrid (public) has computing, networks and security, and multimedia programmes in English.
- Goce Delcev University, Stip, and the University of St. Clement of Ohrid have a few programmes each, for example international law, computer engineering and tourism.
UKIM's website lists 24 faculties that offer study programmes in English. The list shows faculties rather than individual first-cycle degrees, so confirm with the faculty which programmes are open to new foreign students in the year you want to start.
Medicine and health in English
UKIM teaches general medicine, dentistry, dental technicians, pharmacy and veterinary medicine in English. In the 2026/27 call, foreign students pay 5,000 euros a year for medicine in English and for dentistry in English, against 3,000 euros for medicine in Macedonian. UGD in Stip also lists pharmacy in English, and IBU dentistry. Seats are limited, so read the call for the number of places. See studying medicine in English in Europe for the wider picture.
What English you need
North Macedonia has no national English test for admission. Each university decides:
- IBU requires every applicant to take an internal English exam. Those who score below 60 out of 100 go to a preparatory English year at the university, and that year carries its own fee. Applicants to programmes taught in Turkish or Macedonian are exempt.
- UKIM runs a one-year short programme, English language for foreign students (two semesters, 60 ECTS), for foreign citizens enrolled in English programmes, and gives a certificate on completion.
- Other universities publish their English rules in the call or on their admissions pages. UIST sends international applicants to contact@uist.edu.mk.
Certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL may help, but the sources we read do not list accepted scores. See IELTS and TOEFL for European universities.
What English-taught degrees cost
Our catalogue shows English-taught programmes at €1,000 to €8,000 a year, with a typical value of €3,600. In the 2026/27 calls:
- IBU published two price lists, one for students from the Balkan countries and one for international students. Its international fees run mostly from 3,000 to 6,000 euros a year, with 8,000 euros for dentistry.
- UACS states an indicative 3,600 euros a year.
- UIST states 600 euros per semester for international students.
Prices are quoted in euros and paid in denars. See how much it costs to study in North Macedonia.
Do you also need Macedonian?
Not for the programme itself, but for daily life it helps. UKIM and the University of Bitola run Macedonian courses for foreigners. Residence rules are the same as for any foreign student, and the university gives you the confirmation you need for the Interior Ministry. See student visa for North Macedonia.
