Bachelor's Degrees in English in Montenegro: What Exists

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.
Teaching in Montenegro is almost entirely in Montenegrin. Our catalogue lists 2 bachelor's programmes taught in English out of 109 in the country, so the choice is narrow. This guide describes both and what we could and could not confirm. You can see the same list in the English-taught programmes of Montenegro.
The main programme: Business and Economics in Podgorica
The University of Montenegro offers one bachelor's degree entirely in English: Business and Economics, at the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica, known as MONTEB. It is a three-year academic programme of 180 ECTS. The 2026/27 competition lists 80 places for it, and notes that the programme is self-financing.
- Tuition. The competition sets €1,750 per semester. The faculty's call for international applicants gives €3,500 a year. Our catalogue shows €3,500 a year for EU and non-EU students alike. This is the main exception to the free tuition at public universities; see how much it costs to study in Montenegro.
- English requirement. The faculty's 2025 call for international students asked for English at B2 level at least. A candidate who cannot show it takes an examination at the faculty, and a grade of 5 or 4 in the English matura replaces other proof. Check the 2026/27 call for the current rule. See IELTS and TOEFL for European universities.
- Candidates without the Montenegrin matura. The same call says the faculty organises an examination in two subjects, mathematics and English.
- Applying. The faculty's call says applications from foreign candidates are handled at the Faculty of Economics itself, not on the national platform. After the decision, an acceptance letter lets admitted students who need a visa apply for it.
The second entry in our catalogue
Mediterranean University in Podgorica offers a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature (180 ECTS, with a Business English module and a module in English language, literature and civilisation). Our catalogue lists its languages as Montenegrin and English. The programme page does not say in which language the classes are held, and it shows an accreditation date that has passed (26 March 2024). Ask the university what the language of teaching is and whether the accreditation is current before you apply.
What you will not find
- Medicine and dentistry in English. The University of Montenegro teaches Medicine and Dentistry with entrance exams, but its 2026/27 competition names no English-taught version, and our catalogue lists none. For English-taught medicine, look in other countries; see studying medicine in English in Europe.
- Engineering, computing, law. We found no English-taught bachelor's degrees in these fields.
If you have a school diploma from abroad and want to study in Montenegrin, the faculties ask for proof of the language of instruction. See how to get into a university in Montenegro.
Visa and diploma
An English-taught programme does not change the legal steps. You still need your school diploma recognised and, if you come from outside the visa-free group, a visa and a residence permit. See document recognition for Montenegro and student visas and residence in Montenegro.
