Bachelor's Degrees in English in Lithuania: Programmes, Cities and Fees

Fee figures: catalogue of 6 October 2026.

For a small country, Lithuania teaches a lot in English. Our catalogue lists 285 programmes with English as a language of instruction, out of 698 full-time bachelor's and integrated programmes in the country. See the full list of programmes taught in English.

Two kinds of English-taught programme

The number needs one explanation. In the national list used for admission, many programmes appear twice: once in Lithuanian and once in English. On our site they are a single programme with both languages. So most of the 285 programmes also run in Lithuanian, and a smaller group is taught only in English, usually designed for international students.

For you the difference matters in two ways:

Where the programmes are

Vilnius and Kaunas have most of the English-taught programmes, roughly in equal measure, and Klaipėda is clearly third. A few programmes run in Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Telšiai, Alytus, Marijampolė and Utena.

More than two dozen universities and colleges teach in English. The largest offers are at:

State colleges (kolegijos) in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys also teach some professional bachelor's programmes in English, as do the private ISM University of Management and Economics, LCC International University and the European Humanities University.

Which fields

Business and management is by far the largest group: general management, international business, marketing, finance, logistics and economics. Engineering comes second, from mechanical and electronic engineering to maritime studies. Next come arts and humanities (languages, translation, design, music and media), then computing and IT. Health programmes are fewer but important: medicine and dentistry are taught in English at both Vilnius University and the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), and pharmacy and veterinary medicine at LSMU. There are also programmes in tourism and hospitality, the social sciences and the natural sciences.

What it costs

Fees are set by each institution, programme by programme. For English-taught programmes in our catalogue:

StudentsFromTypicalUp to
Lithuanian and EU price€2,250€3,420€15,000
Non-EU price€2,281€4,201€15,000

The lowest prices are at colleges. The top of the range is not an outlier: it is dentistry at Vilnius University. Medicine and dentistry at both universities, and veterinary medicine at LSMU, cost several times the typical fee. Music and performing arts programmes are also above average.

The "EU" figure is the price of a paid place. Lithuanian and EU citizens who apply through the joint admission can also compete for state-funded places, which are free; the cost guide explains how. Fees on our programme pages are for students starting in 2026/27, and the 2027 prices may differ.

How to apply

Recognition of your school diploma is explained in document recognition for Lithuania, and the residence permit in student visa for Lithuania.

English requirements

Institutions set their own requirements. Vilnius University, for example, accepts IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 81 or another certificate at B2 level, and exempts native speakers and applicants whose previous studies were taught in English. LSMU asks for at least B1 level, for example an IELTS score above 5.5, and tests applicants without a certificate itself. More in IELTS and TOEFL for European universities.

Do you need Lithuanian?

Not for admission to an English-taught programme. Lithuanian helps a great deal with part-time jobs, internships and dealing with landlords and offices. Students of medicine and other health programmes meet patients during clinical training, so plan to learn the language early. Many universities offer Lithuanian courses for international students.
