Biotechnology entry scores in Germany (2025): cut-off marks by university

We have official entry scores for 3 programmes (scale from 1 to 4, lower is better). In the latest lists the score of the last admitted student ranged from 1.5 to 3.1. The most selective programme was at Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, the most accessible at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.

The score is the result of the last admitted student, so it changes every year.

How admission works in Germany

Some programmes have open admission; others have fewer places than applicants (numerus clausus), where the school-leaving grade (1.0 is best, 4.0 worst) and waiting time decide. Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy are allocated through hochschulstart.de. Foreign school certificates are checked (often via uni-assist); if the certificate gives no direct access, a year at a Studienkolleg and the Feststellungsprüfung exam are required. German-taught programmes require German at DSH-2 / TestDaF 4 level.
